🏅 Volunteer Rules & Expectations


Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. To keep the centre safe, welcoming, and running smoothly, we ask all volunteers to follow these simple guidelines.

Conduct & Respect

  1. Treat all visitors, members, staff, and volunteers with kindness and respect.
  2. Promote a positive, family-friendly atmosphere at all times.
  3. No abusive language, harassment, or discrimination will be tolerated.

Reliability & Attendance

  1. Please arrive on time for your agreed shifts.
  2. If you can’t attend, give as much notice as possible so we can arrange cover.
  3. Keep your volunteer coordinator updated about any changes to your availability.

Health & Safety

  1. Follow all centre safety procedures and instructions from staff.
  2. Immediately report any hazards, accidents, or incidents.
  3. Use equipment only as trained or instructed.
  4. Keep fire exits, corridors, and facilities clear at all times.

Safeguarding

  1. Volunteers must follow our safeguarding policies at all times.
  2. Never be alone in a closed room with a child or vulnerable adult.
  3. Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the safeguarding lead.

Confidentiality

  1. Any personal or sensitive information you come across must be kept private.
  2. Do not discuss visitor, member, or volunteer information outside the centre.

Professionalism

  1. Wear appropriate clothing for your role.
  2. No alcohol or drugs while volunteering, and never volunteer while under the influence.
  3. Handle money, keys, and equipment responsibly if entrusted to you.

Communication

  1. Be open, honest, and respectful when raising issues or giving feedback.
  2. If you’re unsure about something, always ask - we’re here to support you.
  3. Use the WhatsApp Group and Teams Community to coordinate and organise your tasks.

Training & Responsibilities

  1. Attend training sessions relevant to your role where required.
  2. Only carry out tasks you are trained or authorised to do.
  3. Take pride in your duties - every role helps keep the centre thriving.

Representing the Centre

  1. As a volunteer, you represent Polmont Sports Centre in the building and in the community.
  2. Keep our values in mind when speaking about the centre online or in public.
  3. Avoid posting photos of children or vulnerable adults without permission.

Ending a Volunteer Role

  1. You’re free to step back from volunteering at any time; we just ask for notice where possible.
  2. Any centre property must be returned (keys, badges, equipment, etc.).
